Glacial Lagoon Private Tour

It is one of the best-known tourist attractions in Iceland. It first appeared only in 1934-1935, the lake grew from 7.9 km² in 1975 to at least 18 km² today because of the heavy melting of the Icelandic glaciers.

Jokuslarlon Glacier Lagoon is next to the Icelandic Ring Road. The lake is filled with icebergs, which are calving off the Breidamerkurjokull Glacier Tounge.

Glacial Lagoon Private Tour

Category

Jökulsarlón is the best known and the largest of a number of glacial lakes in Iceland. It is situated at the south end of the glacier of Vatnajökull between the Skaftafell preservation area in Vatnajökull National Park and Höfn.

Approaching a depth of 250m, Jokulsarlon is now the deepest lake in Iceland. It is only separated from the sea by a thin strip of land, and the combined action of the glacier, the river which empties from the lake, and the ocean may eventually transform it into an inlet of the sea. There are plans to prevent this from happening since the only road in the area passes over the narrow isthmus.

Along the way, we will stop at some of the attractions along the South Coast: Seljalandsfoss, Skogafoss, Reynisfjara Black Beach and even more.
