Kirkjufell mountain is one of the most photographed mountain in Iceland. It is a beautiful landmark in the Snaefellsnes peninsula, rising 463 meters above sea level and jutting out into the sea. Mt. Kirkjufell has also appeared in many films and TV shows, like the Game of Thrones.

Not far from Grundarfjordur village is the prominent mt. Kirkjufell. The mountain is steep, rising 463 meters straight up, almost like a knife, which makes the mountain a favourite stop among tourist, especially those who love to shoot pictures. This makes mt. Kirkjufell one of the most photographed mountain in Iceland.

Kirkjufell is located on the northern side of Snaefellsnes peninsula, and about two hour drive from Reykjavik. There are a few great hiking trails in the area, which offer a great view of the mountain. The surrounding area is also full of bird- and marine life, and if your are lucky you might spot an orca or two in the fjord.
